We decided that a good place to start was to go out and have a look at our sandpit area as it is now.
Room 3 like our sandpit and think it is a great place to play BUT we think it could be a whole lot better!

Hi everyone and welcome to Room 3's blog! We are really excited about beginning our journey of becoming an enviroschool this year. On this blog space we will be keeping a record of our project which is to enhance our sandpit area and all the work leading up to it.

Verrans Kids
Hi we are the kids from Verran Primary School, Room 6. We are very friendly. We are an Enviroschool. We don’t drop rubbish, we care and protect from pollution. (But sometimes our classroom is very messy!) ‘Enviro’ is cool, we plant fruit and vegetables, then we eat them, or we take them home. We take care of native birds. We like our friendly worms who live in the worm farm (we even have some in Room 6.) We learn lots of stuff, our topic is Marine world…we love school. We like maths because the maths we learn is really cool. We love times tables. Publishing our writing is one of our favourite things. We love to read plays, we love to read, especially junior journals. We love reading stories (especially narratives.) Art is awesome. We like to draw, we love homework and spelling. We have cool things on our computers to use. We love to dance at Jump Jam, we love to jump and jam! We love our school production… we love our play ground... We love our teachers….we love our topics. Verran School is a cool school, Room 6 is great!

We think there are many intersting possibilties for your sanpit.
After looking at your sandpit we made a PMI to sort out the good and bad points. this is what we got.
POSITVES (good):- the sandpit is nice and big; Tree above probaly gives lots of shade in the summer; the concrete blocks could be good for painting on; The cover fits and keeps animals out;
MINUS (bad):- Pole and fence a bit plain; the tree might block the sun in winter and make it a bit cold; tree might drop some leaves on the sandpit.
INTERSTING:- green polythene; could paint on empty wall behind the sanpit; could make a garden where the grass and mud is; could put a path there too.

We really liked the idea of having a garden with a pathway.
