Enviro Expo

The Enviro team were involved in an Enviro Expo this term. The focus was learning about Environmental Education through the School Curriculum. Emma, Dominique, Kate and Sharelle were involved in Visual Arts and created a block of art to make a mural of Native New Zealand creatures. It was a great day and you can see the finished mural at the Regional Botanical gardens in Manukau

Potato Planting

The Garden group are growing potato's. These photos show the group planting the potato's with Mr Barnes and Mrs Barlow. We are hoping for new potato's for Christmas dinner. Keep checking the blog and we will update you on our strike and how they taste.

Sunnybrae's Garden

Sunnybrae Normal has their own garden. We have a garden group that meets once a week and cares for the garden and worm bin. We are grateful for the support and knowledge of Mr Barnes and hope to sell our produce in November. These photos show our winter planting and watch the blog to see our harvest.

The Verran Junior's Sandpit

Hi Sunnybrae kids, here is a picture of our sandpit. As you can see it is a lot smaller than yours, we can only have 6 children in our sandpit at one time. It is made from an old spa pool. Because it has a wooden cover that is locked each night we are able to store our sandpit toys in the sandpit. At the end of lunchtime the children from Room 3 sweep up the sand around it and make sure all the sandpit toys are inside the sandpit.

Designing

We had an afternoon designing what we could put on our boring wall. Our ideas were all about nature. We looked at some photos of New Zealand nature to help us.
We drew some pictures and started to think carefully about what to put on the boring wall.

Boring Wall

We think the wall is very boring and we would like to paint it. It is a big space so we could paint lots of little pictures or make one big mural. Do you have any ideas about what would look good on this space??

Sandy Sandpit Toys

The toys are too sandy!! They are making a big mess!! At the moment we are keeping the toys in a box in our cloak bay area. This is making our cloak bay very slippery and dangerous. Our idea to solve this problem is to build a box to store our toys in. We thought the box could be by the sandpit and could be locked at the end of each day.
